Did you know that every year more than 1 million people worldwide die by suicide? In America, more than 30,000 people a year die by suicide with over 700,000 people a year attempting suicide. Statistics reveal someone dies by suicide in the United States every 17 minutes!

On Tuesday, August 23, 2005, Code Red!'s special guest was Mr. Jerry Reed--Executive Director of the Suicide Prevention Action Network USA-(SPAN USA). Mr. Reed joined us to talk about the national and global epidemic of suicide and what can be done to help prevent people from taking their own lives. We also discussed upcoming World Suicide Prevention Day scheduled for September 10, 2005.
