Should DC Residents Be Allowed To Have Guns To Protect Themselves?
The U.S. House of Representatives recently voted to repeal the District of Columbia Gun Control laws that have been in place for close to 30 years.
Code Red! has called Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's (R-TX) press office several times but staff member Jamie Loftus has not seen fit to give us a courtesy return call about having Senator Hutchison on the Code Red! show to discuss her support of the bill which we believe is long over due for the citizens of Washington, DC.
Code Red! has also contacted Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton's (D-DC) press office about this matter and they haven't returned numerous calls either. Code Red! wonders "What do these press office people do all day anyway?" One of our major "pet peeves" is politicians always complaining on the TV news and in newspapers about "crime and mayhem" but when you call and ask them to come on a show dedicated to really doing something about the problems of crime, reduced safety and emergency preparedness, they're always too busy complaining and providing no new solutions!
Why do these same people keep getting re-elected over and over as if they are supposed to be in these positions for life? My god, if you're not going to do anything, at least resign and give someone else a chance!
But enough on that, what do you think? Should law abiding citizens in the District of Columbia be allowed to possess firearms to protect themselves from criminals or should they continue to be at a major disadvantage when confronted with life and death criminal acts because the criminals sure aren't turning their weapons in and the police can't be everywhere protecting everybody?
